The British Freediving Association is delighted to announce the Male and Female British Champions for 2025, recognising exceptional all‑round performance across the competitive season.
Male British Champion 2025: Peter Sturgeon
Female British Champion 2025: Georgina Miller

The annual UK Champion titles are awarded by collating points earned across all eight competitive disciplines between 1 January and 31 December 2025. This system rewards consistency, versatility, and dedication across the full breadth of competitive freediving.
Georgina Miller – Female British Champion 2025
“I’m delighted to receive this award. Competing across every discipline is a big challenge, and I feel very fortunate to have such a fantastic training crew at home in Cornwall, who are a constant source of support and motivation. My husband, Daan, has been incredible throughout — his encouragement means the world to me.
We were lucky to attend some amazing competitions last year, with highlights including Bristol Blue and Xibalba, organised by Lemus in Mexico. Deep diving in Cenotes is a truly magical experience I’ll never tire of. One of my motivations for staying fit for freediving is being able to keep up with the our local dolphins — which we’re lucky enough to see from time to time at home. Huge thanks to the BFA for the continued support.”

Peter Sturgeon – Male British Champion 2025
“It’s a real honour to be named UK Champion for the third year running. One of the highlights of the season was the opportunity to meet and dive alongside the wider UK team at the AIDA Indoor World Championships in Japan — an inspiring experience all round.
2025 was intended to be my ‘pool year’, with training focused on preparation for the Pool World Championships. Ironically, my pool results were actually down on 2024. However, at the same time, my depth diving suddenly clicked. With only a handful of dives, I achieved new personal bests and made genuine progress in both CNF and FIM.
That’s freediving in a nutshell — sometimes the work you put into one area pays off somewhere completely unexpected.”
The British Freediving Association are delighted to congratulate Peter Sturgeon and Georgina Miller on being named Male and Female British Champions for 2025. This award recognises not just outstanding performances, but consistency, commitment, and versatility across all competitive disciplines throughout the year. Both athletes embody the dedication and sportsmanship that the BFA is proud to represent, and we are thrilled to celebrate their achievements.
