BFA Affiliated Clubs

If you have a UK club, please email clubs@britishfreediving.org and we'll get it listed below.

Apneists UK: Central Division

Our group is a slightly informal gang, we are the most active group in the midlands area, our aim is to enable as many freedivers as possible to indulge in our sport safely!

We started a couple of years ago when three like minded people found each other via the power of the Internet, and we started some pool training together in Walsall.

We decided we should learn how to do the sport safely so got some AIDA Freediving courses and Freediving trips abroad under our belts. We then set up a permanent line at Dosthill Dive Centre near Tamworth, which has become our home. We also however train outdoors in North Wales with our Sister group and at pool sessions in Stockport and Manchester. Our group has grown since we first started and the ranks are still swelling, we welcome people with a similar ethos and safe attitude.

Although we are qualified and experienced, none of us are yet instructors so we don’t offer any courses, all divers must gain an AIDA qualification before joining us. This can be arranged through our attached school freedivers you then have the option to come and train at our pool sessions or at Dosthill. If you are already qualified you can come and meet up with us or we can arrange for you to continue your training.

At the moment we have training sessions on Tuesday evenings 7.30-8.30pm at Walsall (33m pool) and at Ponds Forge in Sheffield on Fridays at 8.00pm (25m pool but a constant depth of 5.8m, great stuff!). Both sessions take place alongside SCUBA clubs.

First point of contact e-mail Kenny or Steve

Apneists UK: Northern Division

We effectively make up the Northern contingent; we have divers mainly from North Wales, North East and North West England and even have a splash of Scotland in our ranks.

We run professional AIDA Freediving courses for those in good health and over 18 years of age. Our classrooms and pool for the courses we run are based in Manchester Aquatech Diving Centre and our Internationally Qualified Instructors will travel the length and breadth of the country for groups if sufficient interest is there. We have our club meet every Monday from 7.00pm – 9.00pm. We also have pool sessions in Liverpool (Fridays 8.30pm) and Stockport (Sundays 8.30pm) with other informal sessions too.

After qualifying we then move you on to something unique, we leave the pool and pub and actually go diving, no armchair Apneists allowed :). We train depth at Capernwray in the lakes and Vivian in Llanberis and Dosthill in Tamworth. Our true home though is Dorothea quarry in North Wales, nowhere else is deep enough.

Crystal Freedivers (London)

Crystal Freedivers are GO, once again.

We have a lane in the newly refurbished 50 metre Crystal Palace swimming pool on Wednesday 6th January 2010, the session starts in the pool 8.30 pm until 9.30 pm, but let's meet at 8pm for a chat and a catch up. This will be the regular weekly slot. We've already got some old friends coming along but please LET US KNOW if you are going to be coming.

Our Agenda:

Imagine if you could freedive in an olympic swimming pool...
Well... that's just what we do! We're a group of freedivers who meet regularly at Crystal Palace, National Sports Centre, where we book out lanes in the 50m racing pool for dynamic training, with or without fins/monofin. We offer training sessions on most Wednesday and Friday evenings as well as Sunday mornings, ideal for those who choose to train hard as well as for those who like to chill out in a fabulous pool after a hard day at work. On request we also organize static apnea training, or even let you play in the 5m diving pit!!! By the way, it's FREE to join! All we ask is for everyone to have completed an intro course before they join and to pay their share of the pool booking fees.

You can find us on our facebook group and join in our discussions, share photos and videos and stay updated with our latest news and events! We also need some motivated freedivers to help us plan and organize the new season, please get in touch if you're interested.
